Vlad the Impaler, better known by his enemies as Dracula, earned his grisly title by impaling his Turkish foes on wooden stakes. He maintained a series of castles and fortresses in the mountains of Romania. One such fortress was Poenari Castle. It was regarded as the the location where Dracula made his last stand against the Turkish invaders. The layout of this castle map was inspired by the very ruins of Poenari Castle.
